“There are many reasons I am running for State Senate, but the primary one is to take an active role in protecting our individual freedoms. Many of my friends and neighbors are disappointed in the bloated, inefficient government and want to see more common sense, business-minded people in Augusta who understand the average Mainer’s experiences, ” said Brackley. “As a State Senator, my approach will be to have respectful, thoughtful conversations on the issues both with my constituents and my colleagues. I look forward to starting those conversations as I visit with voters throughout the district in the coming months.”

Born and raised in New Vineyard, Brackley is a 2007 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and a former employee of Bath Iron Works. As a teen, he spent his summers working at a local dairy farm and his family’s construction company. Brackley has also worked for the Franklin-Somerset Federal Credit Union.

Brackley and his family left Maine for a short time while he was working for a Texas company, but decided that they wanted to be back in their home state. They returned to West Bath in 2017 and launched Brackley Electric. The company now employs dozens of Mainers.

In addition to his Maine Maritime Academy education and the State of Maine Electrical Apprenticeship Program at BIW, Brackley has also studied Business Management at the University of Maine at Augusta and completed the Emerging Leaders Program through the Small Business Administration.

Brackley and his wife, Ellen, have three children. They are active members of New City Church in Bath and enjoy spending time in Maine’s outdoors.

“Matt’s story is familiar to many Mainers. It’s one of hard work, dedication to family, and a love for our great state. He wants to make a difference for his friends and neighbors, and he will be a valuable voice in the State Senate. Matt has signed the front of paychecks, dealt with state regulations, seen what it’s like to live away and want to return, and with three kids, he wants a bright future for our state. I’ll be glad to work alongside him in the Senate,” said Senate Republican Leader Jeff Timberlake (R-Androscoggin).

Maine Senate District 24 consists of all municipalities in Sagadahoc County as well as the Lincoln County town of Dresden.

Matt Brackley lives in West Bath with his wife, Ellen Brackley, and their three children, Anthony, Cindy and Ava. Matt and Ellen have been married for 17 years. Together they own and operate Brackley Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company based in West Bath.

Matt is inspired to run for State Senate as he witnesses the targeted deterioration of individual freedoms in favor of government suppression and control. He firmly believes that the purpose of government is to serve, defend and support its citizens. Instead, we are seeing a system of bloated, inefficient government that is suppressing free speech, stealing from its citizens with over-taxation and driving a narrative of increased dependence on the government.

Matt believes that the majority of people in his community are tired of the lies and inefficiency of government. We are being artificially divided by people in power who do not care about us or our way of life. We the people are ready to take our government back from those who seek to control us through fear and intimidation. We want common sense, business-minded leaders in Augusta and Washington, D.C. who are committed to serving and defending individual freedoms and liberties.
